The NNAL represents standards within the locksmithing industry which pertains to individual members skills & knowledge. Companys that wish to bear the NNAL logo can only do so based on the employees being trained via the NNAL.
Their are currently three catergories of development within the NNAL which demonstrates each individuals skills & knowledge:-
1) Associate Member (General Locksmith) 
All Associate members have undertaken an intensive training programme in lock opening skills. Each member can profficiently open any domestic or commercial door and replace the locks if necessary. Their knowledge & skills are based around rim & mortice locks, Upvc (euro) locks, padlocks, roller shutter (bullet) locks etc. Associate members have all been security vetted and carry the NNAL ID card.
2) Accredited Member (Advanced Locksmith - Opening Skills) 
All Accredited members have undertaken a further intensive training programme in advanced lock opening skills. Each member has built upon their knowledge as an Associate Member to use these new techniques which allow for total non-destructive entry. Accredited members will all carry a wide range of lock stock, will have been security vetted and will carry the NNAL ID card.
3) C & C Member (Car and commerical vehicle locksmith)
All C & C Members specialise in non-destructive openings of both car and commercial vehicles. C & C members will all carry a wide range of auto locks, blanks and fobs, along with diagnostic equipment and key machines. These specialists can rekey and programme the customers vehicle on site. All C & C members have been security vetted and carry the NNAL ID card.
