About J.H. Blakey & Sons Security Ltd

J.H. Blakey & Sons Security Ltd is a locksmith based in Nelson. It is a shop-based business rather than a mobile-only service, and it covers the local area. Customers say the team is friendly and patient, and that staff in the shop are knowledgeable about products such as safes, which customers mention buying. Reviews also mention a large safe being delivered and installed without difficulty.

Reviewers describe work on home security, including replacing and upgrading locks, with one customer having several doors fitted with keyed-alike locks so one key opens them all. Others report an engineer attending quickly, carrying out a job efficiently despite awkward door construction, and a call-out for an elderly relative where the engineer explained options that reduced the cost. Customers also describe the staff as helpful when they return for further work.

Before you book

Ask for the total price, including the call-out, before the locksmith sets off, and ask whether they will try to open a locked door without drilling it. If the price changes a lot once they arrive, you can say no. Our guide to choosing a locksmith covers the warning signs.
